Hadestown at Lowell Memorial Auditorium

Hadestown brings its Tony Award-winning folk opera to Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts, on November 21, 2026. This performance is part of the musical's ongoing North American touring engagement. Prices currently start around $120, with major-production tickets often ranging from $120 to $500 or more depending on seat location and availability.

Written by Anaïs Mitchell, Hadestown reimagines the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice as an industrial-era tale of love, risk, and power. Orpheus journeys into the underworld to find Eurydice, who has entered the domain of Hades. The fully sung-through production blends folk and jazz influences, with songs including “Wait for Me,” “Way Down Hadestown,” “Flowers,” and “Why We Build the Wall.” Its original Broadway production opened in 2019 and won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical; the cast recording also earned a Grammy Award.

The show's history stretches back to 2006, when Mitchell began developing it as a community theatre piece in Vermont. It evolved through a folk album and years of stage development before reaching Broadway. Rachel Chavkin directed the acclaimed production, whose atmospheric lighting, live band, rotating set pieces, and ensemble movement help create its distinctive jazz-club-meets-underworld world. The touring cast changes, so check the event listing for current cast details. The musical runs approximately two hours and 30 minutes, including one intermission.

Venue and Seating Information

Lowell Memorial Auditorium is a theatre venue in downtown Lowell, a former mill city known for its textile history and cultural attractions. For a visually detailed production like Hadestown, seats with a clear, centered view can help audiences take in the choreography, lighting, and full stage picture. Consult the auditorium's current seating map when choosing tickets, as sightlines and section names vary.

Seats farther from the stage may still offer a broad view of the staging, though facial expressions and smaller details can be less distinct. Availability and sightlines depend on the specific seat; review the seating chart and any view notes before purchasing.

Parking Information

Parking options and rates can change, so confirm current details with local parking operators before arriving. Consider allowing extra time to park and walk to the auditorium, particularly for a busy performance.

• Look for public garages and municipal parking in downtown Lowell, then check posted hours, rates, and payment methods before leaving your vehicle.
• Street parking may be available nearby, but spaces, time limits, and restrictions vary. Read all signs carefully and avoid assuming a space is available for event-length parking.
